Thanks for the comment, mr Eagle.
I see three main challences:
1 The decoration on the bow and stern. A heightfield might do the trick, but the
stern is round, and a heightfield isn't.
2 The figurehead on the bowsprit. I've never done anything human shaped.
3 The rigging and sails. Sails might be easy, omit them! Cutty Sark in Greenwich
is sailless.
For the ropes there are some help include-files.
Chain11.inc (Rob Antonishen, 24 feb 1997) gives paraboles or catenaries for
chains or ropes.
Rope.inc (Ryoichi Suzuki, 21 jan 2001) uses a spline to create a mesh (see
attached image).
Rigging.inc (Chris Colefax, 28 april 1998, modified Tim McMurdo, 28 February
2005) to create rigging with tackle and blocks and rope and knots.
On the modelshipworld.com website someone started a scratch build of Cutty Sark
in 2013. Not finished yet!
So good work takes time.
Cheers
Ton
