That link to the "Uncanny Valley" concept (Wikipedia) was interesting reading.

But I don't think it applies that much to artificial-animals (robotic or
virtual).

People would be creeped out by overly realistic robotic people. (Not me, though.
I WANT ONE!!! NOW!!! I would force it to make coffee for me. Maybe make dinner.
NOT pay the bills, though... THAT is creepy!).

I guarantee, though that if my cat confronted a robotic-cat from Uncanny Valley,
then fur IS going to fly - artificial fur. MY cat would win. Because at heart,
he is just a very small tiger. A killer who is only loyal to me. His ragged,
chewed up toy mice would testify to the fact.
