FWIW, I remember watching one of those John Stossel shows on ABC where he showed
a series of paintings to three art
experts/critics/appraisers/whatever-they're-called. All three went to great
lengths to explain what deep dark secrets these paintings revealed, extolling
the genius of their creators. Turns out they were fingerpaintings made by
kindergarteners...
As far as why this particular image works (or doesn't work)... well, beauty is
in the eye of the beholder :)
