Hope I'm not being too critical.
The tree needs to much taller in comparison to its thickness. There are some
palms that are short and thick, but they are in areas of limited water. Since
you scene is island-like, there would be more rainfall and taller trees, before
they produce fruit. Here are two example pictures, but perhaps you are not
trying to achieve this level of effect.

The bend that you introduced is also unnatural. If you doubled the height, the
amout of bow would be more natural, IMHO.
The Texture of the trunk is also wrong, the tree grows upward, and old fronds
grow old and are broken off the trunk. Depending on the circumstances the trunk
texture is much closer to your original image. This one appears like a snake
that swallowed various sized balls.
Again, I apologize for being too critical. You are doing in a caliber of work
far above my level.
