This sounds like if it's in the naybourhood of this section of the docs:
2.3.10 SDL tutorial: A raytracer
The section is about creating a raytracer within the Raytracer using Pov-Ray's
script language and is probably the key to what you describe. A fair warning is
in place; this section isn't exactly light reading and makes the assumtion that
you have university level math skills.
If the idea of faking it seems more appealing after a glance on that one then
just reply so.
