I was originally working on this image for the IRTC complexity round. The
image was too bad to enter as I only started it halfway through December.
It is now looking better (I think) so I thought I would post it here.
The ground/mound are heightfields the grass and distant trees were created
with arbaro. The big tree on the right (it is meant to be a tree) and the
small twig like tree close up on the left were hand modelled (well
hand/macro) using blobs.
The tree/bark texture is a modified version of one I found at
http://www.wikipov.org/ow.asp?BarkMaterials
The little bug (it is meant to be a termite) on the tree at the front is a
blob.
I added a small amount of ground fog and rendered with a very small amount
of focal blur to try to give the image a bit of atmosphere.
I will need to speed up my modelling for the next round...
