Transparent objects cast shadows according to the filter and transparent
values of the pigment. If the glass is 100% transparent, there will be no
shadow.
To get transparent objects to cast shadows, use photon mapping. With photon
mapping, light is diverted (refracted) into caustics, leaving the shadow
behind.
