To change the dpi do this:
- Open Photoshop and create an image with the size you want to print (using
real world units (mm, cm...) and set it to 300 dpi.
- go to image>image size..., use the pixel size in POV-Ray
- render your image and open in photoshop
- go to image>image size...

the size you specified in POV will be the same in the pixel size, but the
image will have 72dpi and will be larger in (mm, cm...)

- Now you just have to change the dpi to 300.
