I was trying to produce a realistic atmosphere for an image, becoming hazy
towards the horizon. I tried using media but it didn't produce quite the
results I wanted (or took too long to render) and static gradients are too
limiting.
I've since written a new pattern which can do exactly this kind of thing.
It works by varying the value returned between 0.0 and 1.0 as the angle
between the camera rays and the surface normal vary.
It can be used as both a texture and a pigment.

It has a wide range of applications, from LCD screens to computationally
cheap atmosphere, you can see examples and get the incidence patch at:

If there's another way to do this already I couldn't find it, either way
this is my "hello world", I hope it proves useful.
