The IRTC rules are very clear on what is allowed and what is not. Any
3D rendering algorithm is allowed, raytracing, scanline, radiosity, or
combinatios there of (or others). The definition they use exludes
building an image in a paint program, though ceratain elements in it
such as textures, bump maps, height fields and others may be created
this way. Post-processing is also forbidden except for adding
copyright and image information, conversion and resizing and maybe
gamma correction.
