I instal POV-Ray in a Windows Vista system and I have a much problems.

1 - I can't save files with a same name, POV-Ray stop to work.
2 - The animation apparently not work. The system is locked and do not appear
results.

Note- I'm using POV-Ray 3.6 with upgrade 3.7 Beta

If you are a beginner, you really should *not* be using any beta version of
POV-Ray.  Use plain POV-Ray 3.6!!!

Where did you install POV-Ray? I've had zero problems with 3.6, MegaPov or the
3.7 beta on vista, but I installed it to my user directory (e.g.
c:\users\MyUserName\Apps\POVRay, or whatever).

If you install to c:\program files or c:\program files (x86) you will probably
run into problems, as vista tends to restrict what's written there.

A simple solution:
Install POV-Ray in a custom folder, not in the program files folder as per default.
In Vista, the program files folder is "protected", meaning that you can't change 
the files that are there after the installation is completed.
This don't depend on whitch version you have, from home basic to ultimate.

SOLUTION TO THE SAVE ERROR WHEN INSTALLING TO PROGRAM DIRECTORY (Vista)

The reason why Pov-Ray crashes when trying to save is that the user does not
have permission to write through pvrender.exe

Solution is to find the pvrender.exe file in /bin/ and right-klick select
properties. Under security tab, klick all the users and make sure they all have
full rights. Usually "user" is the one with limited access. Then just OK and
restart Pov Ray if it was running.

I guess you could also just click the "run this application as admin" and that
would work as well... haven't tried it though.

This should fix the problem, and u guys don't need to reinstall your Pov Ray.

( BTW: Why can't these forums just have quick guest login for posting something.
I hate to always have to go through a 5min process to register and shit just to
post something quick. I almost left this solution unposted because of that. )

They do. But you need to use NNTP for that, not HTTP.

You don't need to register to post through a newsreader, only for the 
web interface ;)
