Chris, is it possible to release the actual executables?
I think you said they were for Unix. Would Linux run them?

(Christoph, now you see why sometimes I'd prefer to keep my silly questions
to p.o.-t.!)

That does not make much sense - building from source on Linux is not
much more difficult than installing a binary. And it will run on all
hardware while a binary will only run on what it is actually compiled
for.

Note however that the megapov plus package does not seem to build
without modifications at the moment.

No. There are no silly questions.

This is true only if you have the compiler and build tools installed,
and even then it still is not guaranteed to build without some degree of
tinkering. Most recent distributions won't install the development
packages by default as most users won't need them (being a binary
distribution), although installing them is usually a fairly simple matter.

Which Linux distribution are you using Greg? Do you have a compiler
installed (you can find out by typing "gcc -v" on a shell prompt)?

Most Linux distributions install gcc and make by default and that's all
you need for building POV-Ray (X header files would also be a good idea
but are not required).

But that's not really the point here of course since there is no binary
available and as said it does not seem to build without modifications
either.

So far, just goofing around with Knoppix. Got a new desktop however and
about to experiment with something else.
