guess this means you rock.

perhaps if you wear that seal of approval, you'll get chicks lining up for some
rock'n'roll? :D

Thank you sir. :-)

I drove to Uppingham this morning to show it to my friend in person. And
at the weekend, I'm spending some time with one of my dance collegues
from a different class so she can see it.

On top of that, I now have 3 recurring Rock & Roll events on my
calendar. Plus this month it's the Twinwood weekender. (I've never done
a weekender before. Not sure what it'll be like...) And next month is my
dance school's 50s and 60s night, so there's sure to be at least some
R&R in there too.

Suddenly my empty social calendar looks surprisingly busy! And it's
(almost) all thanks to Maggie's Blue Suede News...

Eh... no. Not really, no.

I've yet to attend a Rock & Roll event where there where any "chicks"
present. Unless you mean Pete's wife. She's cute.

It seems that 1950s rock is something that only appeals to older people...

Congrats too.
That's some amazing progress, btw. I don't know much about ballroom dancing
except that it would take me much more than a few months to get there, let
alone taking exams.

Good job, keep up the good work (and have FUN with it!)!

Well, it's not ballroom, it's rock & roll, which is a different
category. But sure, I know what you mean - dances that have definite
names and specific dance steps (as opposed to the "dancing" that most
people do, which just involves grooving to the beat).

And the Bronze-level exam is really a very basic test of ability. It's
like a driving test; it doesn't prove you're a good driver, just that
you're not going to kill anybody. ;-)

I should point out that while my dance school often holds events such as
the Summer Dance and the Christmas Dance, this is 98% Ballroom & Latin
dancing, with little if any Rock & Roll. And it turns out I really enjoy
R&R. So now I've had the chance to go to two dance nights that are 100%
R&R, and I like it. And, as you can see, they're recurring, so...

Everybody keeps saying "oh yeah, there's *loads* of Rock & Roll events
going on around here". And my reaction has always been "dude, *where*?!"

Now it seems I know the right people and I go to the right places, and
suddenly there seems to be a bazillion events...
