I think we can put our differences behind us.

For science.

I'm very excited, but my own excitement worries me. The first one was
awesome *without* any anticipation. It's also a story that worked well
when it was simple, but it's hard to make a sequel and keep it simple.

Yeah, I'm a bit disappointed that it looks like it's going to take place
inside the enrichment center again. I was trying to figure out how you do a
sequel with the portal gun outdoors and still make it a game, without
turning it into an entirely different game (like an FPS).

Well, I don't know. Most of Portal is really just "Get from point A to
point B. Oh, did I mention the lava? Try to avoid touching it." You
presumably don't need too much of an explanation to head into another
hall of mirrors doing more of the same.

Uh, yeah. Considering that you just levelled that thing... how does that
work, exactly?

The whole point (or hole point?) of the portal gun is that it allows you
to get around obsticles. The outdoors doesn't have any obsticles. (Nor
any flat surfaces, for that matter.) It might be useful to cross the
grand canyon, but you still wouldn't have anywhere to put the other end
of the portal anyway.

Although I hear there's a TF2 mod with portal guns... It looked, uh, crazy.

The Orange Box is pretty cheap at the moment, if you're playing HL2 as
well make sure you pick up the patch it sorts out a lot of slowdown.

Yeah, just hard to find. I've got a hold in at a local used games shop,
$18 when it shows up. It just tends to fly off the shelves as soon as it
comes in.

Actually, the reason I would pay for it (which I assume is what you were
going to ask) is because Valve is developing Steam for Linux, and I
support companies that support Linux. I also think the developers would
like to be able to put food on the table, so if I want to play the game,
I should actually fork over the money for it since it's not a free
game. :-)

Erm, no. Actually I was thinking "why wait for shops to stock it when
you can click a button in Steam and have it instantly installed for you?"

(I don't approve of stealing - software or anything else.)
