I think much of bash.org content are deliberate attempts at humor. :)

I think bash.org is a serious threat to my productivity. (To say nothing
of my social image...)

The same thing has happened to me.

What is even more interesting is other cases where you find snotty replies along
the lines of "That's such an obvious and stupid question-- go to google, don't
waste this forum's time." But at least twice this has been the top hit!

Yep, this has happened to me quite often. The more obscure the topic the
more likely it is to happen. What's worse are all the "fake" results
(e.g. softinformer.com IIRC) where the website has simply strung a
series of random strings together but the actual content is only
tangentially related at best. Also bad are those sites that simply
reproduce content from elsewhere such as Wikipedia or Usenet, resulting
in lots of duplicate "hits".

Oh man, I hate that so much!

It's much, much worse if you do a search for anything related to
Microsoft products. You get 80,000,000 "fix error 01923" results and
similar - all of which have *nothing* to do with your problem. (Most of
them are in fact sites to peddle expensive trojans, obviously.)
