One of my favourites was "You dirty rotten swine! You have let me
thudded on the ground!"

Indeed, one of the reasons I posted the quote I did. It's interesting to
me how many people who are fans of the Pythons are unaware of what their
influences were.

Like me... I'm unaware!
Of course, it may have something to do with the fact that I first became
interested in Monty Python's stuff some 10 years after their last movie.

Certainly it happens. :-) Some of Cleese's earlier work is in "I'm
Sorry, I'll Read That Again" (a radio series), and as an influence they
list The Goon Show (Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers (yes, *that* Peter
Sellers), Harry Seacombe, and a few others).

It's probably a little wider-known over here, but not much. Very few of my
friends have heard of the Goons, although ISIRTA and Round the Horne are better
bets.

"I've... got it written on this piece of paper..."
I'll probably run out of Goons quotes very rapidly, since I've only heard about
half a dozen episodes... I'm not nearly old enough to be a first-generation
Python quoter, let alone the Goons - even my parents aren't quite old enough
for that!

Since it was almost 50 years ago that the goon show ended, not many I imagine.

Just a minute I've got it written down on a piece of paper.

Fair point. :-) We're on series 5 at the moment, such a shame the
earlier series were mostly lost.

Or "milk", indeed. ;-)
"Waits for audience applause. Not a sausage."
