One in which all "tested" remedies are replaced with hemeopathic and
"natural" ones, like this product:

http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/2009/06/finally_a_homeopathic_medicine.php

Because, you know.. Like cures (or causes, or both o.O) like? So
snorting something "natural" that kills nerve cells should help cure
things that make you nose stuffy, or.. cause them, or.. hell, I am
confused. I need to go check the Circulatum Minus of Urbigerus and Libri
Tres de Occulta Philosophia, to work this one out. I mean, its obviously
not going to be written by any of the people conspiring with the FDA to
promote Big Pharma.

I am sure we have "much more" to worry about "safe" levels of fluoride,
than the billions of dollars worth of untested products, with unknown
ingredients, with unknown/tested/proven effects, that more and more
people are buying, because, well... they are natural, and like.. got
electrolytes and stuff, and people want Blogo, because its got like..
electrolytes and stuff!

An overheated Teflon pan can kill your budgie.... something about it's
decomposition products is very bad for parakeets. :)

Homeopathic has been a synonym for snake oil to me for quite some time,
about when it got popular. I started doing research, and come to find
out, in most instances the "remedy" is so diluted that it can't possibly
have any effect whatsoever. Of course, when your wife wants to put
something that claims to contain Wolfsbane, and belladona in your baby's
mouth, you tend to feel alarmed, until you realize that it's been
diluted to concentrations less than 1:100000000000000000000000000 ...

(I hope that's enough zeros ...) one part per googol or something like
that...

Zicam is different because it's packed full of tons of zinc.

Well, yeah, that's kinda what I was getting at but didn't want to "tip
him off" that that's what I was thinking.

That kind of dilution is typically called a "tincture" - and actually,
going though immunotherapy myself for allergies, the principles are not
entirely dissimilar between a so-called "homeopathic" tincture and
immunotherapy. At the same time, there are also notable differences
(like immunotherapy is a shot, not something you drink/place under your
tongue, whatever).

I've always thought of homeopathic remedies, though, as being more a
matter of the application of a placebo effect more than anything.

I used to have a parakeet,
it died when I used a teflon pan.

Maybe I should get a new one. =)

Next time, coat the parakeet with flouride before cooking it.
