If you say so. Your Googling skills are way beyond mine.

Derived from the French newspaper if I am not mistaken.

My verdict: what a terrible 'joke'. Not even remotely funny, but 'de
gustibus non est disputandum' or the equivalent for humor.

Well, folks are selling maintenance manuals for it. Now, granted, the manual
is out of stock, so maybe it's a joke on their site....

http://www.factoryautomanuals.com/1921-Rolls-Canardly-p/81477.htm

And painters have painted pictures of it...

http://www.dailypainters.com/paintings/16071/Rolls-Canardly-Nineteen-Thirty-Eleven/Ron-Morrison

So I think perhaps it's not as unlikely as it may seem.

The painting's author (who's really good, BTW, I wish I could paint like
that http://watercolourproductions.blogspot.com/2007/03/blog-post_8172.html)
works from imagination and tells the joke himself in his blog post. I guess
Andrew's post was worth discovering this guy's watercolours.
There have been relatively few Rolls models and if there was a RR with such
a (hilarious) name there would be more than a "manual" and 140000 joke pages
about it.

G.

Wow, thanks for sharing that - I wouldn't have seen it otherwise. Very
impressive watercolour work.

Fair enough. I was also going on the fact that the year model of the painted
Rolls was claimed to be close to the same year as the manual. I didn't look
all that close. :-)

Note to self: Don't quote your grandad's jokes online.

Au contraire, I think many here have said, in one way or another, for
him to Stop Thinking Frightfully Unselfworthish.
