I set my PC to upload a video to YouTube. It was extremely slow, so when
I left the house this evening, it had got to about 20% done. When I got
home tonight... my video has already scored 1 view. (!) Interesting... heh
Anyway:

Yet another rendition of Widor's toccata. This time with digital sound
(so no microphone defects) and with the camera looking over my shoulder
so you can clearly see my fingers while I play.

Very cool. Are you reading the music as you play, or have you memorized

Heh. First I'd have to find a recording of it, so I have some clue what
it's *supposed* to sound like. ;-) And actually, if it doesn't sound
very cool, I probably won't bother...
But hey, did you know Bach wrote 48 preludes and fuges? I've learned
*cough* two of them so far. o_O

It's memorized. I can't read music anywhere *near* that fast!
(More like, "OK, so that's A, so the one above that is B, and above that
is C, then D, then E, so that one on the line is F, which means the top
one is G, so the first ledger line must be A, and the next one is B, so
this must be... C. OK, what's the next note?")

Yeah, probably. But, see, that's the skill of a true performer; making
it *look easy*. ;-)
Well, if you think you can do it better, you're welcome to try. ;-)
I should point out that the first bar has 32 notes in it, *just* for the
left hand.
And so does the second bar, actually.
And the third bar.
In fact, just about *every* bar has 32 notes in it for one hand or the
other. (Note carefully how half way through, the two hands *swap over*.
I can't begin to tell you how hard that is! The left hand usually plays
slow parts; playing a fast part with that hand just confuses my brain!)
PS. I've been playing this toccata for so long... the other night I sat
down and played some *normal* music, and it seemed insanely easy! O_O

OMG, did *I* write that? O_O
Well, as those of you who've been following my blog will know, on
Wednesday I met a guy who's played the Grand Organ at the Royal Albert
Hall. And he said complimentary things about my playing of this piece.
Not too shabby, eh? ;-)
