I always used to look around the house and ponder the possibilities. What if I
spend my days designing soap dispensers or door handles? What if I were the
one who sat down and actually designed cheap plastic cups? I guess it's

Really, I wonder how many people are actually behind this spamming. Is it just
a few bumps on a log who sit there all day writing out code:

send_viagra_ads_to( a )
I guess it doesn't take much for one person to infect millions of computers, but
it's really hard to imagine people who can be responsible for this and still
live with themselves.

They caught one guy a few years ago, and found he'd been responsible for
some fair percentage of the spam, like in the 10%-20% range. So I don't
expect there are a whole lot of people doing it.

The article stated that 0.86% of all computers were infected, and that spam
accounted for more than 97% of all email sent.
Going by those numbers, and guessing that individual spammers are capable of
infecting thousands (if not millions) of computers, than I would guess less
than a thousand people worldwide (and possibly less than 100).
