Looks to me like some of those so-called hyper-intelligent people with not
enough other challenges in their life to keep them busy in more productive

I read about this. The default password is "DOT". If you toggle the power to
the sign while holding down some particular key sequence, it resets the
password to "DOT". About as secure as Microsoft Bob.
At least they had the brains to put a padlock on it.

Saw a news report about the signs but couldn't get the video at work. Can't
help but laugh...must be the anarchist in me. Maybe it is because we are a
fearful society and something absurd like that provides some perspective.

Ah so the signs can be used for something useful then, rather than things
like "SPRAY" and "FOG" or "ACCIDENT AHEAD" when the road is completely
empty. I would change it to "PULL BACK OVER AFTER YOU'VE OVERTAKEN YOU
RETARDS". OK maybe that wouldn't fit in.
I wonder how easy it would be to hack the fixed ones in the UK, presumably
they are controlled remotely by some means...
