Is now a bad time to mention the pictures of my little sister in her
brownie uniform, and how cute she looked?

Intentionally slightly blunted. It can still cut straight through a 20 cm
block of polystyrene in one strike.

1. A blunt knife always slips.
2. A dropped knife lands point in foot.

I suppose you don't really want a sword to be razor sharp. It could get stuck if
used in anger.
A clean cut through polystyrene is impressive. I've cut up polystyrene blocks
with a knife and it takes a lot of force and the blade mostly sticks.

LOL I'm just glad Dr John's not around (I must drop him a mail)
He thinks your sister looks more than cute, add the Baileys and there would be
no holding him :)

Nah. If it's to be used, the sharper the better.
Local laws - if it's sharp it's a weapon. If it's blunted, it's an ornament

Admittedly, that was with a full strike from above my head

I didn't want to be too gruesome as the children are still up. But my
understanding is if the blade is sharp enough it can get jammed in major bones
also against European type armour it can stick.

Ochone! I'll be just telling O'Neill that his shillelagh is a bit of a joke
where you come from. If that's ok wit you? :)

A cut and not smashing it to smithereens?
I'm still impressed.
