So, as part of an effort to deal with the deafening silence in my new
environment... (Yeah, office vs industrial plant is a huge difference) I
invested in a pair of headphones to listen to music at work, seeing as
my old over the ears phones broke, I bought a pair of on the ears
phones. After a day and a half, they drove me nuts, Sooo... I did a bit
of research, and picked up a pair if "in-the-ear" earphones. What a
difference in sound quality! I'll never go back.

They are just disgusting when shared. ;)

I've been using some Sony (MDR 013) headphones that sound
great to me, but the cord is getting wonky and Sony doesn't make
them any more. I've been thinking to maybe get the iGrado
headphones, I don't want to get earbuds because I take them
on and off too often...
What brand earbud did you get? It's hard to get an idea of
how good something will sound from the internet, every
review is really an advert.

I think he was talking about in-ear rather than, earbuds.
Earbuds sit at the opening of ear canal. They move or even fall at the
tiniest movement. They generally suck.
But in-ear phones fit into the canal thus give a more consistant and
reliable sound especially in the low f'requencies due to the insulation and
better acoustic impedance adaptation.

Denon -- The model is the C452. Look at reviews of the C351 if you want
an idea of what others think. 452 is a newer model and is a step between.
A word of advice: With in-canal earphones it's very important they seal
right, if they don't the sound will be tinny. The ones I bought came
with 3 size of pad. Try all of the sizes. I found the small size
actually worked best, which was shocking. Also look into getting a
longer extension. The cable is rather short, and the supplied extension
isn't very long.

Also, this is literally the first every pair of headphones that has
rivaled big stereo speakers. It could make watching action movies on a
portable DVD player an experience. Something I thought was impossible.
The bass response is incredible. It is, however, somewhat disconcerting
because the "feel" isn't there. I sometimes find myself expecting the
"punch" feeling my chest cavity when a bass drum hits.
