  In summary:

- Single mother gets the standard RIAA harassment "pay $4000 now or
we will sue you for an enormously larger sum of money, ruining the
  rest of your life."

- Single mother has never pirated music and thus ignores.

- RIAA sues. Single mother gets lawyer and fights back.

- The RIAA is given the single mother's computer to be examined by a
third party. The RIAA refuses to release the results of the investigation
until the court orders them to do so. Unsurprisingly, no signs of music
piracy was found in the computer.

- RIAA drops charges.

- Not content with that, the lawyer demands RIAA to pay his fees. The judge
agrees, and orders the RIAA to pay $300000 to the lawyer. (0wned.)

- Single mother and lawyer agree to counter-sue the RIAA for a bunch of
infringements including fraud, illegal coercion and abuse of the legal
  process.

The part that cracked me up was when the RIAA said "that's way too much
money. We'll give you $3000" or some such, and the judge said "don't you
spend more than that investigating before you sue someone?" D'oh! Then
he told the RIAA to release their records of how much they pay people to
investigate the infringement before suing. :-) [I don't remember if
they ever complied with that one or whether they got out of it.]
