I think that especially the Artemia Salina thread - using the trace() 
function - is important as this is all POV-Ray while Sam's is not. 
Orienting objects on the surface of the sphere can be done as indicated 
there but also using the Reorient_Trans() function. Look into and use 
transforms.inc

Notice for the thinkers:

if you find a simple fast way for any numbers, apply first for a patent, 
there is a lot of money to make in the golf ball industry.
