I have this otherwise nice-looking mountain terrain generated by a
height_field I made in Photoshop. The problem is that there are all these
odd black areas scattered around the terrain when it is rendered. It
appears as though it is failing to draw some of the triangular components
of the heightfield. It also appears that this occurs most frequently where
the line of sight from the camera just barely skims the surface of the
terrain. Is there a way around this?

Thanks in advance.

alternatively:

- turn off 'smooth'.
- use 'double_illuminate'
- not use a heightfield.
