Hello,
i'm using Pov for 6 years (but i'm first time on this group).
I just wanted to say friendly hello to all users of POV and ofcourse to
Pov-Ray Team members. Btw - with group is best to discuss future requestes?

I have some .inc files containing useful general-purpose macros, and some
C/C++ code, like tree-generator. I would be hapy to "donate" this code to
POV-RAY, so it can be used in future versions. On with group I should
disccuss that ?

For now, I think advanced-users or general is the group where future
requests are discussed most of the time.

Post images in p-bin-images, code goes to p-bin-scenefiles I think. Or get
yourself a homepage or a host! ;-)

But I'd really like to see some images from you 6-year-web-absence... ;-)

well, it is better to say that I'm a programmer, that started to play with
POV-Ray in free time long time ago :)

Welcome abroad.

You have probably noticed the lack of a povray.feature-request group
-- it's not unintentional :) Here's what I suggest.

povray.general - for your feature request
povray.off-topic - if it's not related to POV but is rather general
(eg: "Why is raytracing so slow?")
povray.programming - if you want to discuss the POV-Ray source code
itself

It's generally not a good idea to have such things built-in. It's much
better to have them as an external utility or an include file. This
way you get all the versatility of your tree generator without paying
the price of fixing its feature set to a specific version / compile of
POV.

That said, povray.binaries.utilities is not a bad place to post your
tree generator (as an attachment) and have the thread regarding it in
povray.general . This is general practice on this server to post
binaries in one of the indicated binaries group and have the
discussion in the designated text group.

Please take a look at povray.announce.frequently-asked-questions ,
there are about 20 messages from the administration of this server and
the POV-Team which are official statements and general guidelines for
new visitors of this server.

Once again, welcome abroad and have fun.

I'm studying computer engineering, so you may call me a to-be-programmer...

Most of the time, I script and code with POV-SDL, in order to
get some useful macros that will certainly help me in a current
image/animation, and will most certainly aid me to do greater things
in the future. I wrote a bunch of Mesh-Modelling-Macros for just
that purpose, the image entitled "Gerberas" is the outcome of a
"spending all spare time of 2-month for one purpose"-effort...

On some rare occasions, I just drop into POV, code a little scene,
experiment with some lighting, and call that a finished scene... ;-)
(At least, such an image might take a day or two to finish...)

But at least you've got some trees to show off, don't ya?

right now I have some icons made for my program, at p.b.i

Trees - probably later, now I must finish next 4-6 icons
