Chris you mentioned something about working on a POV patch type program
that would enable us Apple users to include Caustics and Photon mapping
in POV-Ray? Is this still a possibility? I've been spending time
reviewing images and research papers on the subject and this is a
fantastic phenomena to have in 3D modeling/rendering. I am no
programmer to be certain but Art I know. I can do this type of thing on
a two dimensional surface, but I'm dying here because it isn't possible
on my PowerPC. Can you keep us posted on this? Thanks.

I was working on a Mac version of UVPov, but ran into some trouble which
I think came from using a different version of source for the Mac front
end then what was used for UVPov. Basically, it compiled fine, then
crashed on startup.
Since then I got involved in other things, and haven't been able to get
back to it. I may just attempt to do a Mac version of the Superpatch
instead, when the new version is released. It is supposed to incorporate
UVPov(most of it, anyway).
Actually, I didn't know anyone else was really interested in it. :-)

I would be extremely interested. My artwork deals with mens culture so the
more symbology available to me the better the end product. So, if you want
to see if the Mac equivilant of UVPov will work on other Apple cpus' I'll
sign up. I don't mind the crashing just so long as you end up with this
great addition to POV-Ray.
