Hi,

I'll get to the point (almost;) directly. The extremely usefull treemacro
maketree thing, seen here and there. It makes trees more beautiful and detailed
than I can ever make with my simple squares and cylinders. However, as Im
currently providing some graphics to a open source game i was wondering if we
could use trees made via povtree in this game?

So, does anyone know what license the maketree macro is released under?

Thankful for replies.

if it's Gilles Tran's MakeTree, as in:
http://www.oyonale.com/modeles.php?lang=en&page=1

it uses the Creative Commons by Attribution license. You're free to use, share
and adapt as long as you attribute the work to the original author. Kinda like
the BSD software license...

Hello

Note that POV-Tree and MakeTree are different tools.
POV-Tree is a java application by Gena Obukhov and Tom Aust that creates
mesh-based trees http://www.propro.ru/go/Wshop/povtree/povtree.html
MakeTree is a POV-Ray macro I wrote a long time ago that creates trees out
of cylinders. http://www.oyonale.com/modeles.php?lang=en&page=1

MakeTree is rather outdated now and POV-Tree gives much more realistic
trees, with the additional benefit of mesh instantiation (as many trees as
you want in the scene).

In any case, if you're talking about MakeTree, any tree you created with it
is 100% yours, no strings attached (the CC-By license is only about the
macro code itself).

G.

Yes, I was thinking about MakeTree, and nothing else.

Terrific!
