I have a glass bowl with some candy inside, and the candy looks very dull,
as if no light is coming into the bowl...I've tried playing with media,
interior, filter/transparency, photons, etc, but I don't know what I'm
doing wrong...I should be able to see the shadows and highlights on the
candy inside the bowl.
Help?
Regards,
C.Arthur

Is it possible that your max_trace_level is not high enough?

I've simplified the situation just to experiment. It seems that my objects
inside the bowl do not want to show caustics. I tried just putting a simple
flat glass wall between the light and the candies, and then I see that the
floor shows the caustics, but the candies do not. Does it make any
difference that they are mesh objects with uv-coordinates?

I figured it out! I just needed more photons, that's all.
