Hi everyone. Just wondering if anyone has any good ideas for a POV project
to collaborate on? I've been using POV for a long time, but I never seem
to get to finish major pics - they always get daunting and I get
sidetracked by doodles. So I'm interested in finding anyone to work with
on a more ambitious project. I think I'm best at texturing/lighting
composition stuff, but not too bad at poly modelling to .obj format too.
Anyone fancy working together on something interesting?

I would love to work on a project bigger than myself. My time is
sporadic though, so I would not like to work to any deadlines.

That's really the same problem I have - I really don't have the time to
settle down to a large project. I couldn't work to a deadline either, I'm
just wondering if anyone would like to do something for the fun of it, just
to see what comes out.

POV Pong used to be fun: One starts with a simple scene, sends it to his
partner, who developes it further and sends it back, ... can be played
in an endless loop or as long as you wish :)

It has the advantage that each person can do what he's best at and that
time is not really an issue.

Yes, this is how I made
http://www.slimeland.com/images/pictures/PaddedCell.jpg and
http://www.slimeland.com/images/pictures/SpaceBowling.jpg with this guy:
http://www.dirtystyled.com/index.html

It's fun, but if you don't really plan things out from the beginning you end
up with a lot of elements that may or may not work together as a whole.

After seeing the quality and feel of your recent images in p.b.i, I think I
would enjoy playing a pong game with you.

There's something I've been thinking about for some weeks now, which some might
like: an "I can do better"-competition.

Someone makes a simple image, doesn't matter what topic or style. Then someone
else tries to copy the image, but also make it better. Then again someone else
tries to imitate and improve the image. The first one also tries to make his
version even better than all previous versions, and so on.
Of course, after a few iterations it becomes difficult to enter the competition.

The rules: no sharing of source, it has to be self-made stuff.

It's not really a collaboration project, but it might stimulate you (and
probably a lot of other people) to do finished major pics.

Either idea sounds good for a bit of inspiration, but I think I like the
sound of Pong better because it's more like a positive collaboration than a
competition. Slime, do you want to get the ball rolling? Or bouncing?

Sure. Would you like to do it publicly? We can take turns posting our image
/ source in a thread in p.b.i and p.b.s-f; this allows people to "watch" the
image progress.

Generally I think the round is complete when each person has had 5 "pongs,"
unless they feel like continuing it.
