Hy,
I modelled a screw and now tried to get a good material but I wasn't
successful. It should look like the metal at www.lightflowtech.com
gallery picture 2. I think it should be possible with povray.
Can someone help me to adjust the different parameters ? Thanks a lot

I fixed up a scene that is pretty close, although the metal texture
looks more plain(because of the lack of surroundings). I will post it in
povray.text.scene-files.

That's a new "patch" keyword when using MegaPOV custom version of POV-Ray.

Oops, that is an unofficial feature from MegaPOV. Sorry about that...
Just comment it out. In this case, the effect it gives is pretty subtle.

Hy,
I rendered it with 1280x1024 aa0.3 (metallic_reflection comment out) but
-sorry- it was disappointing. Is the reason the missing MegaPov ? Do you
have perhaps a picture on a web-page ?
Thanks a lot
christof

Well, that is part of the problem, it looks slightly less realistic
without it. But the biggest problem is the lack of surroundings. The
image on the web site has some stuff around it, this only has the
checkered plane.
And it isn't an exact copy, it still needs some tweaking. The normal and
pigment need a little adjustment. It is just something to get you
started in the right direction...

Hy,

it took some weeks, but I decided to download MegaPov 0.4 and succeded
in "installing". And really: it is much much better than PovRay allone.
Not as good as Lightflowpath, but I hope it will become as good as it in
the next version with MegaPov included.

What is it exactly about Lightflow that you like? I don't have Windows
and there doesn't seem to be a PPC Linux version, so I can't run
it(well, I could under SoftWindows, but...). I have looked at the web
page a little, and just don't see what is so nice about it...

If there is a specific function or feature that you like and which POV
lacks, it might get added in...

The fast displacement mapping looks's nice.
