Hello! :-)

I have a POV-Ray 3.0 scene, with a complex spaceship model. I would like
to import this spaceship into 3D Studio MAX for a particular job I have
to complete as soon as possible (a complex animation, which I cannot
build using POV-Ray). Is there a way to convert the model? It is not
strictly necessary to obtain a 3ds or max model, even if I can get an
AutoCAD dxf, or Lightwave lwo, or even a plain RAW ASCII file, then I can
convert it quickly.

A second question: can I convert this pov3 scene into the povray binary
format pob? How? What it this binary format?

Thank you for the help, it's very important for me :-)

Is the model a triangle/smooth triangle mesh or made with POV-Ray CSG?

I know Moray will convert to DXF and RAW and I think 3DS, if you get it
into POB then you can export it into any of those formats. (It takes a
long time to convert though) I don't remeber how to convert to POB,
maybe someone in the group could help with that.

Huh? No! Moray doesn't convert anything (except mdl to pov :-)
maybe you mean the 3DWin that comes with Moray?

To the original poster:

There is currently no way to convert a POV-Ray 3.0 scene to any other
format! Sorry.

I think Crossroads (is that the name?) can convert 2.2 POV, but I'm not
sure.

3DWin can convert POB, but it will only recognize triangles and meshes of
triangles in the POB file. All other objects will be ignored on import into
3DWin and thus not exported either.
So converting POV to POB and then POB to 3DS doesn't help either, because
during the second step you loose everything in the scene that is not a
triangle.

Sorry, but that's how it is at the moment...

Johannes.
