Hi all,

first of all I will apologize. I didn't intended to upset you. And I didn't
wanted to tell a lesson about wikis. I wanted an explanation why the POV-Wiki
has other rules as the Wikipedia e.g. so I tried to describe the differences. It
was not intended as a lesson about wikis. I was unaware of the fact that the
link-list of the POV-Wiki is a source for other processes (I assume it will be
synced with the original POV-site?) completely. That explains all and I have no
problems to accept this. But I had no idea about this so far.

To be more constructive. I was not lazy the last hours and worked through nearly
all the links Maurice has left (the 3d resources and half of the include files
is missing so far, but I have visited all other links - from the macro and
object files up to the peoples pages. I have the odd habit to start bottom up.).
I regained a lot of the broken ones by the "wayback machine" but not all.

But for the moment I only scribbeled it down to outprints of the link lists and
it will take a week to have it in a form I can present you, I fear.

Best regards,
Michael

LOL ... I had this really clever retort, but I'm just going to settle
for no one upset here ... least-wise not me!

In all my browsers except Opera, the monospace text is much tinier than the
regular text. Inspect element doesn't show anything untoward in the style
sheets, so I suspect that there is some common browser default that sets
monospace smaller than regular. This differential is present regardless of how
many times you press Ctrl +.

The text is exactly the same size in Opera. I have tweaked my Opera setup over
the years, and I do remember messing with the monospace font size, so that
/might/ explain why Opera is different for me.

I have posted some screen shots to p.b.i.

Web browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Konqueror, and Opera.
Operating system: openSUSE 12.2 Linux/KDE.

In firefox edit->preferences->content->Fonts & Colors->Advanced you can
set the default monospace font size ... ctrl + and ctrl - work as expected

I have the latest firefox, but there is no such thing as
edit->preferences->content->fonts.... ;-)

You get there through: Extra->Options->Content->Advanced.

Anyway, thanks for the tip because I had not realized it could be
adapted by the user. Logical when you think about it, but I still
assumed those things were fixed by the builder. My knowledge of html
dates from 10 years ago and my wiki knowledge is 0 :-)

Hi to all,
I did a lot of work the last days to confirm my first findings regaining the
lost links at wiki.povray.org. Doing this, I developed a certain Indisposition
to simply exchange the broken links to ones given by wayback (archive.org). I
will open a new thread about it, to dscuss this issue.

Best regards,
Michael

Hi Maurice,

since I noticed that you are working on the links lists again I would really
like to send you my list.
Unfortunatelly I have no user account at the POV-Wiki so far and cannot use your
discussion page there. Can you supply me with a contact please? May be it
suffices to confirm, that you studied at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis
;-)

Best regards,
Michael

I will simply get rid of this job. Since you did not answer, may be the wheather
is to fine at south France, here is my work

The following list treats only the broken links or the ones showing problems
respectively:

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
POV-Ray People Pages
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Anto Matkovic's Page
POV content removed. Older content can be found easily at wayback.

Dennis Miller's Page
http://web.archive.org/web/20120319140240/http://www.casdn.neu.edu/~dmiller/

IB Rassmusan home page
First there is a typo above. The main page is running, but I could not follow
his internal links.

Liam Jackson's online portfolio.
Has 45 entries at wayback. I have not looked through all. But seems that only
the html is archived and not the content.

Mathematical Art
Can be deleted here, since it is in the "include"-section too.

Pod - Home Page
Site is still active, but I don't think that this pics are renderings. Has 60
entries at wayback, mostly HTTP 302. The earlier mirrors have only the main
page.

POV-Ray Users Website
http://web.archive.org/web/20050828224610/http://rsj.mobilixnet.dk/povrayusers/general.html
No photographs of the entrants, only the list and the given biographies.

Steve's 0 PPS Home Page
http://web.archive.org/web/20080509105020/http://www.zeropps.uklinux.net/

The World of POV-Ray Users
http://web.archive.org/web/20070505111338/http://www.3digitaleyes.com/povwrldjpg.htm
Only main page, so somewhat useless.

Thorsten R. Frohlich Website
http://web.archive.org/web/20120501044145/http://trf.de/

Uncle Tyler's Get Away
http://web.archive.org/web/20080514063612/http://home.pacbell.net/tylereng/index.html
Is in the "macro"-section too.

United Artists Galleries
http://web.archive.org/web/20040605143629/http://jkuag.tripod.com/gallery.html

webring.povray.co.uk
Can only find the main page at wayback, not the sites. I was not really
surprised. There is a link to another webring somewhere here
[hub.webring.org/hub/povrayring] containing the sites from N.B., Sonya Roberts
(with the loss of her tree macros) and many others.

As to link sites and their mirrors at the wayback machine: In some cases they
work, with others not. It seems that the wayback machine replaces links by

sites, this replaced links cannot work.
