1. It wasn't his statement
2. I feel entirely unburdened
3. I actually like Linux (well, for work)

As the OP explicitely stated his wife finds it annoying
to have to type something on the command line, she would
very likely be happier on Windows - or Mac, heaven forbid,
but I think there is only an inofficial POV for that.

It seems such an opinion is already too much trolling ;)

Now it itches me to praise the blessing of DOS, which I
grew up with - and two of my three systems still run it.

There are already lots of IDEs, most of them could easily get a POV mode,
and some of them already have.

Please do not waste time reinventing the wheel.

The problem that the people in system support tend to face is not so much
windows not being user-friendly, so much as the users not being
windows-friendly (or computer-friendly for that matter)

Linux users tend to be more experienced; thus, it is true that the average Linux
user may in fact find it to be as or nearly as user-friendly as the average
Windows user finds *Windows* to be. But this is simply an example of the havoc
excessive insulation can wreak upon the mind...

And then there's the fact that there really *is* no such thing as Linux:
