I just did a (rough) count of the images posted to
povray.binaries.images so far _this_ year alone.

My result is about 140 images posted so far in 2004.

Exactly. For simplicity it shows images in order they were added to the web
news view (which has to be done per group, not per date, for old messages).
As there are only slightly more than three images posted per day on average,
it takes about one month until there are 100 new images in the digest.

Thanks! Credit goes to Chris Cason for the idea, and to me for the
implementation :-)

What about making '100' in digests customizable ? For example using already
set value of "Messages per page" ?

Could it be possible to maintain possibility of supporting oldstyle links to
posts? Old way was:

http://news.povray.org/m7fq3u41ctia9e6i3tbnlstn6ek739vpke%404ax.com

while now it is something like:

http://news.povray.org/povray.beta-test/thread/m7fq3u41ctia9e6i3tbnlstn6ek739vpke%404ax.com

but several posts on server contain links in old form. It would be a lot
easier if old form could be supported by some magic AI :-)

BTW, where news.povray.org is located ????
Is it the same country as for aussie.org ?
Because when I have 17:49, news view shows 16:48 which means Poland has the
nearly the same timezone as Australia :-)

The < and >, which are part of the message-id are missing. It should be
detecting such cases, but I guess is doesn't...

You can still link to a message.

Where it always has been.

It is the same system.

No, the server shows the time in GMT, as suggested by the server time in the
upper-right corner.

I am planning a feature to allow users to set their timezone and get times
in their local timespace instead. Of course, the list of feature we plan
has been growing for years now, and it grows much faster than the number of
features we implement ;-)
