I know that from POV 3.5 fade_power, etc. is moved to interior. Yet, the
help file says it should still work in the finish statement, but a warning
will be issued. When I try to run a scene file that works but has fade_power
in the finish statement, it bombs out saying:

"Parse Error: No matching } in 'finish', fade_power found instead"

So, is the help file wrong? I'm using the Windows version of 3.5 with the
IDE.

Jon

ior was moved. So refraction, which did use fading, might be what you are
thinking of. I took a look at section 6.7.3 Finish and it didn't suggest
fade_power (and fade_distance, fade_color) were also acceptable. If you can
point out a particular document section stating otherwise please let us know
and I'm sure it can be changed. Maybe at least to add a note about that if
nothing says it specifically already.

Bob:

See section 6.6.6 (... ooh, bad number ;-)

"The fade_power and fade_distance keywords were originally specified in
finish but are now properly specified in interior. They are accepted in
finish for backward compatibility and generate a warning message."

I found the above statement to be not true.

Jon

I'll have a look and may make some changes,

Thanks,

Right you are, Jon, so thanks for telling where that incorrect sentence is
at. Just in case it's missed here, I'll let the POV-Team know about it. As
per other such instances, "accepted" should always mean it'll still parse
okay and then render. Maybe someone in the POV-Team can answer which way it
ought to be.
