Tom, does this differ from what you made available, for a time, at your
site?

AFAIK it's identical. I do occasionally copy and send the cover-disk I have to
the desperate and needy, so if you can't get hold of one, let me know....

It's a pity that Future didn't play fair. I hadn't noticed that section in
the docs and was surprised to read about it, though I can't blame you guys
for taking the action you did.

Strangely enough, it was through PC Format that I came to POV-Ray in the
first place. They were distributing v2.0 on a coverdisk in 1993 (I think)
and had one of Mike Miller's works (Grinning Jack on his rollercoaster) on
the front cover. I was almost immediately hooked. It's a pity I never got
any good .......

Also interesting is that Future still have nice things to say about POV-Ray.
Computer Arts website links to www.povray.org for a download of v3.1.
Here's a quote :

"The amazing Persistance (sic) Of Vision Raytracer offers outstanding
professional results..."

(I didn't say they could spell correctly :-)

Cheers

Rob

Yeah, I bet(!) I bet you're even more rubbish than HE Day, Gilles Tran,
Rune Johansen, Chris Colefax, John van Sickle and David Fontaine put
together!
BTW: Some obscure shareware magazine was where I first got POV 3.0
My computer has never recovered.

Just trying to crawl back into POV-Team's good books...

'Course not, they've only been making magazines for X number of
decades...

A friend of mine saw POV in a mag and told me all about it, I couldn't get
hold of the mag or the software for love nor money, so I took drastic
measures and finally got round to hooking my PC up to the internet so that
I could find this software. And yes I did find it on the internet, and
now my life has changed completely.

To answer my own question...

delivery). UK and overseas orders taken. Some details from
http://www.curiouslabs.com/store/specialcdupgrade, though you still need to
telephone the supplier to sort out the price (in the UK at least).

But! Has anyone heard if Poser 5 is coming out soon? That's usually when
these kinds of deals start doing the rounds.

Hmm, I may take you up on this - my local Barnes and Noble "may get the
magazine", and has a special issue, but not the Feb. one. Anyone have a
guess as to how long it might take? Or is it everywhere where it will
go....

It's amazing how Borders and Barnes & Nobles don't have this issue yet.
I've been back a few times and only get blank, slack-jawed typed answers
from the local pothead employees.
