I keep hearing all this talk of "Arnold Radiosity," but I can't figure
out what it is. I searched for Arnold on the internet, but all I find
are a few radiosity images. Is Arnold a standalone program or is it
something you use from 3DS MAX or Lightwave, or is it the name of the
person who created the images?

Don't quote me on this, I'm a bit fuzzy on some of the details...
Arnold is, I think, some kind of plugin or add-on for one of the
commercial renderers. It uses some kind of hemispherical lighting scheme
to produce some extremely realistic radiosity-like lighting and shading
effects.. if you've seen the pics, then you know what I mean.
A while back, Gilles Tran was trying to duplicate Arnold's effects with
MegaPOV radiosity (er, he *was* using MegaPOV, wasn't he?) but didn't
have much success. I did some experimenting and came up with some
unusual radiosity settings that did a pretty good job of cloning Arnold.
Since then, terms like "Arnold settings" and "Arnold radiosity" have
sprung up, for lack of anything better.
There's a number of scenes in p.b.i. that demonstrate MegaPOV "Arnold radiosity".
