Don't quote me on this, I'm a bit fuzzy on some of the details...

Arnold is, I think, some kind of plugin or add-on for one of the
commercial renderers. It uses some kind of hemispherical lighting scheme
to produce some extremely realistic radiosity-like  lighting and shading
effects.. if you've seen the pics, then you know what I mean.

A while back, Gilles Tran was trying to duplicate Arnold's effects with
MegaPOV radiosity (er, he *was* using MegaPOV, wasn't he?) but didn't
have much success. I did some experimenting and came up with some
unusual radiosity settings that did a pretty good job of cloning Arnold.
Since then, terms like "Arnold settings" and "Arnold radiosity" have
sprung up, for lack of anything better.

There's a number of scenes in p.b.i. that demonstrate MegaPOV "Arnold radiosity".
