I have been playing with graphics since Photoshop 2.5SE. I have seen
HSV and other color spaces talks about, conversions and just about
everything. But I have yet to come across other than RGB in any primary
application.
Can anyone who uses other than RGB tell me where you use it and why?

I'm not using HSL/HSB very often, but it's useful, if you want to change the
hue and keep the brightness of the color or the other way round.
Somehow it's more the way you would deal with colors in real-life.

I recently worked in in colour-laser-copy burue, so for me real life colours
are always Cyan-Magenta-Yellow... cool job really, I miss it.

HSV is more conceptually similar to how artists select, mix, and use
colors (select the hue, assuming no actual color mixing is necessary,
and add white and/or black as necessary).
CYMK is what's used for printing in most cases.

CIE-lab L,a,b and dE for colour matching in making "in mass coloured"
plastics and for mixing printing ink colours. It's the only ISO
standarized method for colour measurement and specification.

I work primarily in RGB, but if I'm planning on printing anything out,
then I either start off in CMYK, or I convert it into CMYK and then
adjust levels and curves to make it look right when it comes out of the
printer.
<rambling>Which reminds me, I really need to get round to setting up an
action in Photoshop to do appropriate adjustments to scans and images
about to be printed...</rambling>
