I just got a video capture card and would like to know what tv shows are
good sources for pinching textures and image maps from.

these are good sources if you want to map a TV screen ;-))
Anyway, there's always room for experimenting, and I've seen
someone doing great things by scanning a plastic bag and using
it as a HF.

I only use a capture card for gaining color maps. Images themselves are often
quite poor quality, maybe only due to the signal quality here. IMO good sources
could be cultural/geographic documentations.

Total Recal 2070 has some nice backdrops, and of course, Bablyon 5.

Let me get this straight - you're recommending grabbing rendered textures to
use in a render?!? Well, why not? I'm reminded of Dr Jonathan Miller being
somewhat exasperated when directing an opera. The singer had to faint, so
she slapped her hand to her forehead and toppled gently over. "Where", said
Dr Miller, "have you ever seen anybody faint like that?" "On stage", replied
the singer.

unless you've got satellite, you may not get a good grab. resolution of
normal tv is almost half that of digital satellite. hdtv would be even
better of course. what card did you get? does it do video or only
stills? for stills only i recommend snappy v4 by play inc. it's an
award winning product and my friend dave is in charge of it over at
play. he's one of the owners. they design and build their own chips
and have done quite a job. check 'em out at http://www.play.com

I got the Magic TView by Dynalink. It does video as well as stills. I
watched JAG on it last night. It even lets me put it in a window as I use
other programs. (As I write this, I'm watching Poseidon Adventure, lol)
