Hi.

I have not been around for a while. It's good to be back.
I need to use the 'text' keyword but with a character which beyond the
128 first ones. Windows gave me a combination of key (Alt+0138).
Does anyone how to achieve this ?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome back.
Num Lock set on and press Alt key down while entering 0138. Hopefully that's
right and not actually without the zero instead. You could try either. I get

Sorry, I think I misunderstood. Thinking too simply of course. In order to
get that character out of a font type like arial.ttf for example you will
first of all need to be using MegaPov (0.5?) and put the following line into a
'global_settings' block:

 string_encoding "ISO8859_1"

Then use your Alt+0138 as usual.

It worked fine with MP 0.4, but it seems that 0.5 has a bug which
makes rendering of extended chars impossible (it stops with an error).

Turn on NumLock. Hold down the ALT key (if your keyboard has a GR ALT key,
don't use it.) Type the number 0138 on the numeric keypad (the leading 0

Must be the font, I've tried it in M.P. 0.5 and it did render. Not really OK
though because it seems I get erroneous characters using different fonts or
codes. Turned out I was rendering so small a test image I mistook the
character for a different one than what had been placed into the 'text'
object.
I suppose the error you get says "truetype.c" in it? That's what I see if the
font can't produce the requested character.
Seems I was still answering hastily the second reply I gave you. Sorry about
that. Someone else will need to come up with a real answer for you,
hopefully.

Bob

Yes. But, interestingly, the windows compile availiable at
Chris Huff's website doesn't produce that error, but still mess
up the codes. And the scene I'm using for test is one that
used to work fine under MP 0.4

Thanks for the answers. It was so simple that I did not even think of it.

Cheers.
