Just finished reading the post up to this time. I agree that the
background is too dark. ( I liked the yellow of the old page.) The
selection bar on the left is much better. It will make finding things
easier, especialy for newcommers to the site, who will be used to such
selection bars on other web sites. Th eonly thing missing is a link to
the news groups on the first page. I had to do some searching to find
them.

I agree that the basic design of the menu to the left is good, but I just
wish they would replace the classical and quite unoriginal buttons with
something more interesting. Maybe use an image made with POV-Ray as
background (or a collage of images) and place the text menu items on top of
that?

Why not?
Since everybody thinks the design looks horrible it could be a good idea.
But it's not going to be _The_ big contest with a complicated voting system
and such.
Those who are interested could make a design, and then we could discuss it,
and the webmaster could pick the one who's best, and eventually use it or
parts of it.
After all, it's POV-Ray we're interested in, not webpage design, right?

Uh, maybe you're right. Maybe I should do less votings and discussions and
more dictating instead.
What do people generally think of this? Should I do that?
