Hi Thorsten!

I would agree to Gilles and Marc Koester would not be the first person
getting a free account due to the help of friends or family. I did this
at least twice for friends.
Even so the error has been a big one I wouldn't take it too seriously
this time.
If he repeats this stunt I would ask for a UDP or whatever would be
possible on this server).

IMHO it means that M. Koester collected the adresses one by one, "manually",
copy/paste... (which would invalidate Chris' interpretation).

Maybe he deliberately excluded povray.org addresses. If that is the case,
he probably knew what he was doing was wrong.

Ok, accepted, but whys on earth did you mass-mail it, too?
I also thought about complaining to GMX and closing your account.

I just got an e-mail from GMX stating that the account has been closed.

Some people in this newsgroup thought that there was no excuse for his
action, while others thought he probably was a newbie, and that we shouldn't
overreact. Now, one *could* have let the doubt be to his advantage, but it
seems that it was not to be the case...

I think there was no excuse and I think he was probably a newbie and
I -don't- think we over-reacted. Some people need to learn the hard way and
you can spot them by the fact that they are old enough to type but not old
enough to know that you should -ask- before doing anything that affects
other people.

Losing his account was probably the best thing for him. We will all
benefit in the long run. He will get another account and will be more
careful in the future.
