| The dispute is made even more pointless by the fact that POV-users are a
| multi-lingual bunch. The way I would pronounce P.O.V. differs considerably
from
| the way an Englishman would.
| For the record, I prononce it as 'POV' and there can be very little
disagreement
| as to how this should sound in Estonian.

For the English speaking group, how about pov=love then? Is that ever said?
Sorry, you might not realize I'm being sarcastic... and I am.

Good point. I hadn't thought of that. I should have used kilobytes for an
example instead.

...then how am I supposed to extoll the program's virtues
to those who have never heard of it?
"Yeah, you should try this neat program, it makes great
3D graphics, and it's FREE! What's it called? Well,...
I can't tell you, but I can give you a URL."
Sounds kinda CIA-ish.

Hmmm. I usually say "pee oh vee ray". I feel I am using the usual
pronunciation.
Aha!
From http://mac.povray.org/ we have the following:
> NOTE: POV-Ray is usually pronounced "P. O. V. Ray", not "Pov Ray" :-)

There. Good enough for me.

POV-ray is officially pronounced Kaylaylockvaylocknickgo'go'go'.
It is a melding of Gaelic (pronounced gaulic), Hindustani and
Inuit. It may not be clear from the english spelling but it is
obvious to those of Gaelic-Hindustani-Inuit ancestry.
