I'm already into it, Bill. The search generated some rubbish and it
has to be filtered out, but I'll post the results ASAP.

I think we need a web page with a portfolio of functions with their 160x120's. I
think the project is much less valuable without such a list of mug shots.
For example, my isofunctions for "sort of forest," "couch cushion", "supercool
beehhive," etc., are not covered by any precise mathematical term. I think the
ones that are covered- superhyperboloid-- are of little artistic interest or
mathematical value.

Exactly.
That's what I hope to set up. I have a quasi-permanent account that will
hold 10 MB so I can host it for now.
We'll see what shows up there... I'll post a URL as soon as I get
anything up.

I could provide a couple megs from my site if you like. I don't see myself
using all that space (at least for a while).

Thanks, we'll see how it goes. I hope to get cable here soon, so I will
be switching over to that when it happens. But I don't know at this point
how much space they will provide...

I agree with this, but I have no ftp program or program to let me make .gifs right
now.

Hmm, should I just contribute to your list then?

I think that www.tucows.com could help you with
the ftp program selection. They have a selection
to choose from. They might even have a graphics
program or two to make gifs with.

FTP:
The best kept secret of the web is that the best ftp program is Netscape.
If you open an account, say , with XOOM, you can ftp via:
ftp://username:pas### [at] ftp xoom com
Most web hosts offer something like this, if you can just figure out the syntax and
address. Xoom, btw, will be happy to sell you $30 or $90 programs to do ftp ):-p .
With Geocities and homestead, you do not need a separate program, it's part of the
file
builder web page.
GIF:
JPG's might be better than GIF's anyway.
