Forgive me for sounding stupid (I can't help it, can I?) but I've never used a
bump_map before and I'm having some problems with it. I read about the new
g-version but haven't downloaded it. I've looked at the list of changes but
couldn't really find an answer: I wonder, was there a big in bump_maps that has
been fixed?
(sure I know I'll have to download and install the new version anyway...)

There have been bugs of varying amounts with the bump map feature. The biggest
I believe was in pov v3.1d which caused the object the bump map was applied to
to become very dark in appearance. It has allegedly been fixed and you should
get to know that feature as it has a lot of useful possibilities.

Thanks.
Yes, that was more or less the problem I had (also couldn't get cylindrical
mapping right, but that's probably a matter of persistence).
