No biggie. Besides, I believe there are a few tiny islands around there. So you
needn't bother about it.

Have you considered that Earth is actually not a perfect sphere but is
a little squished along the axis of rotation? It's shaped as a geoide
(sp?) which makes perfect sense as this word means "looking like
Earth" :)

Yeah, and airbrush out any clouds.
In fact, you could airbrush out Milton Keynes while you're at it :P

Doh, thanks Barry, erm Bob. (Sorry, but a typo is better than Mark vs
Martin :-))
Maybe this is why I keep getting angles of rotation fouled up...

Thanks for correcting my abject stupidity.

Umm, is that me sitting off the West coast of Tasmania? (Should be in
the SE corner - point would be centred slightly more than 1 marker
diameter further south, and slightly right of the marker that's in
Melbourne...)
What did I submit for longditude (given I submitted a different latitude
to what I typed above...)?
Just had a look at a higher resolution map...1:25,000 (rather than the
Readers Digest World Map) :-)
42deg 50min (about 30sec) S
147deg 17min (about 5sec) E
Or am I now being picky? (Don't get me wrong, looks great!)

I think you ought to check on the alignment of the image map you're
using.
At first I thought I'd been missed, checked you list, and sure enough,
I'm on there.
But where ? Let me tell you none of the spots on the UK are over
Cambridge (where I am).
Then I noticed those two spots that seem to be floating in the sea.
Could it be that you're image map is shifted a couple of degrees to the
east ? (or that the spots are shifted a couple of degrees west). That would
explain the spots off the west coasts of Wales & Ireland and correcting it
would put one of the spots roughly over Cambridge !

You will have email from me soon. But yes, I've noticed aligment
troubles from the beginning, it comes down to the image_map used mostly,
along with possible inaccuracies of lat/lon coordinate submissions. Some
are just city or town names, the East West or South North
positive/negative is most important when sent in. Luckily everyone
states their placename as well, usually.

Have a look at this latest one please, anyone who is there in the UK and
surrounding region (a few minutes from time of this message post).

Looking good - there's the anticipated cluster around London
(apparently not much actually IN London though - Odd).

There are two "in" London overlapping, one is without lat/lon so only
placed with the other London position. I think I might offset it
slightly now that the closeup shows it better.

Therein lies one of the biggest problems with The Earth IMHO - it's
bigger than it often seems.
