Hello!
Seems like our beloved artist is too reserved in this matter, so I take
liberty and publish this news here.
There is article of work of Mr. Tran in "Le Monde" (I believe that this
is one of the biggest newspapers in France). I hope that this so much
deserved credit and publicity will help him to "play a little bit a God"
better. Congratulations!
Web address for this article (in French) is:

Way to go Gilles! And let's not forget all the other POVers in this, his moment of
glory; not to let it completely overshadow the works of so many. I've seen some pretty
gosh darned good stuff everywhere, just lack of exposure being reason for no articles
on
them. It's a very good thing though that someone has a talent that is picked up by the
media. Better than Clinton or Yugoslavia headlines any day.
Let me congratulate you too Gilles Tran, rather than only get longwinded here.

Ooooohhhhhh!!! :0
i need to distend a red carpet under Gilles' feet. Could a raytraced one be
ok ? ;)
Well... joking apart, hope this will help a parallel graphic career to
Gilles ( that article is a good advertisement even for POV-Ray itself :)
P.S. - Now i understand why Gilles uses animals so frequently! :)

But those interested would follow the link at the bottom at the page.
There they find a page where Gilles explains which tools he used.

Waow ! Thanks to all for the congratulations !
To clear up an important point : this is the distillate of a 90 minute
interview by phone, and the angle chosen by the journalist wasn't the 3D
stuff but the animal pictures and why I did them, since I'm a specialist in
animal feeding (cows, pigs etc.). Be sure that I did insist about some of
things that make pov unique (it enables lots of people around the world to
do art, it's free, the collective aspect of it as seen in the newsgroups and
the IMP etc.)... But these aspects were totally forgotten in the final paper
:(
I guess that the timing is responsible for the bias in the paper because it
came out at a very particular moment (Europe is knee-deep in the
"chickengate" crisis right now) where many people question the industry I'm
working in.
Anyway, I won't complain, because that's good publicity for pov and all of
us !
Gilles
PS. : big thanks to Ron Parker for the Superpatch !!!! Best news of the week
for me.
